Hello everyone!

The snow has arrived on the Adriatic side and continues to persist, at least all day today. Here in a series of images taken from various web-cam along the coast from Ravenna to the south of Ancona, documenting how our spot, as well as being active with the cold waves from the NE, have taken an unusual color that excites and there to live fully in the Christmas atmosphere.

Good evening everyone!

Italy is surrounded by a frozen lake, with temperatures near or below zero during the day to the north and on the Adriatic side of the center. Al centro-sud le temperature aumenteranno leggermente, ma la neve si vedrà comunque a quote basse (centro) ed in montagna (sud). Successivamente probabile aumento delle temperature per ulteriore rotazione delle correnti (a scirocco) per domenica, ma di questo è ancora presto per parlarne.

In un contesto così gelido è difficile parlare di surf, anche perchè le onde sono relegate momentaneamente ai soli settori orientali di tutte le coste ( Sicilia, Sardegna e ponente ligure inclusi perciò), ma per chi non teme il freddo le occasioni per surfare continueranno ad esserci. Da venerdì poi libecciata rapida e potente, con rotazione dei venti a maestrale per sabato.

Insomma, la stagione invernale continua a stupirci per la forte dinamicità e la latitanza di quegli anticicloni stabili e duraturi che si adagiavano così bene sul Mediterraneo una volta...

Mercoledì 15: rovesci di neve sulle adriatiche anche fino alla costa; instabile con precipitazioni sparse anche al Sud ed Isole, eccetto che sulla Campania, con neve a quote anche collinari. Discreto altrove pur con transito di nubi alte più o meno compatte.

Giovedì 16: ancora nevicate sul versante adriatico, e zone interne delle regioni centrali, causa la riattivazione dell'instabilità con l'ingresso di un nuovo nucleo freddo; rovesci sparsi anche tra Basilicata, Calabria e Sicilia nevosi a quote basse. Bel tempo al Nord e sul medio Tirreno ma molto freddo.

Giovedì 16: Al mattino possibilità di ultime piccole onde da N-E sul settore estremo di ponente (0.5 m, max 0.8 m), ma in rapido calo e passaggio a poco mosso. Calmo o poco mosso altrove.

Venerdì 17: Al mattino piccole onde da W-SW in rapido aumento, con passaggio a swell attiva sul settore di levante. Misura in rapida crescita, con 1.5 + già prima di pranzo, ed onde superiori ai 2 m nel pomeriggio. Venti forti attivi da ponente sul basso settore di levante, meno intensi salendo verso nord, e da terra andando al settore centrale e sul ponente. Migliora sempre di più verso sera.

Mercoledì 15: Sulla Sardegna, mentre ad ovest inizia la scaduta da N-NW con rotazione dei venti da terra e onde da 2 m (2.5 m a s-w) in calo, in costa est entra swell attiva da E-NE, con onde in aumento da 1 m del mattino a 2 m + nel pomeriggio, un pò meno in costa n-e. Sulla Sicilia possibili piccole onde da W in costa occidentale, che si estendono anche in costa nord nel pomeriggio, ruotando a N-E. Venti moderati, a tratti forti.

Giovedì 16: Onde di qualità per l'intera giornata sulla costa ovest Sarda, per onde rifratte da N-NW a causa di swell attiva al largo (1.5 m); venti deboli sottocosta, in rinforzo verso sera. Onde in scaduta in costa est, causa rotazione dei venti da nord (moderati). Misura di 1.3-1.5 m al mattino (di più a s-e), 0.8-1 m nel pomeriggio. Sulla Sicilia swell attiva da Nord, con vento forte, in lieve calo nel pomeriggio. Misura sui 1.5-1.8 m, soprattutto in costa n-w. In costa s-w piccole onde di qualità (0.8 m) per mare grosso da N-NW rifratto, e venti side-off shore.

Venerdì 17: Swell da W molto attiva con venti anche molto forti fin dal mattino in costa ovest Sarda, con misura in crescita tutto il giorno, da quasi 2 m all'inizio fino ad oltre 3 m nel pomeriggio. Rapida estensione anche a tutta la Sicilia col passare delle ore, con venti sempre più forti e misura in rapida crescita (W-SW), da 1 m al mattino fino ad oltre 2 m sulle zone esposte nel pomeriggio, di meno su quelle riparate a nord e s-w.

Mercoledì 15: Mari calmi o poco mossi sottocosta, per venti da terra.

Giovedì 16: Mari calmi o poco mossi sottocosta, per il proseguimento di venti da terra.

Venerdì 17: Al mattino piccole onde da W-SW (0.5-0.8 m) con swell in attivazione e rapida crescita. Al pomeriggio mare attivo sui 1.5-1.8 m in crescita e venti forti.

Mar Ionio

Wednesday 15: Swell active E-NE all day on Calabria and Sicily, with waves up to me 1.8-2 on-shore winds. Just moved to the sea in Puglia.

Su tutti gli altri settori swell più attiva da N-E, sui 0.5-0.8 m sulle Marche settentrionali, e di misura maggiore scendendo verso sud. Calo a partire dalle prime a partire dal primo pomeriggio, mentre ruotano i venti da nord sui settori più a sud e regge il moto ondoso fino a sera (0.8-1 m).

Venerdì 17: Al mattino mari calmi o poco mossi ovunque; rapido rinforzo dello scirocco un pò su tutti i settori col passare delle ore, ma senza onde surfabili prima che faccia buio, mentre sottocosta entrerà il garbino (bassa attendibilità).

Buonasera a tutti!!

Le ultime previsioni sono state un po' errate, a causa si dei continui capricci modellistici (cambi di previsione, e difficile inquadramento della situazione abbastanza rara), sia per il poco tempo da me dedicato agli aggiornamenti. Perciò inizio scusandomi con tutti coloro che seguono il blog. I modelli hanno il diritto di sbagliare, sennò i meteorologi potrebbero anche cambiar mestiere (e i local surfare onde belle da soli).

Sull'Italia, la persistente circolazione meridionale delle correnti sta per cambiare direzione: ora è il turno del vento da nord, vento che quasi sempre porta con se aria più fredda, ma anche un pò più secca. Il cambio non avverrà prima di un ultima intensificazione del libeccio sui mari di ponente, che poi gradualmente girerà prima a N-W ed infine a Nord. Il ricambio d'aria sarà una benedizione per la pianura padana, che ormai vive da settimane sotto una cappa di nubi basse e aria inquinata ristagnante. Da domani, infatti, si tornerà a vedere il sole, grazie all'effetto favonico che il vento da nord porta con se nello svalicare le Alpi, ed anche un temporaneo aumento delle temperature (anche grazie al sole, ricercato numero uno in pianura Padana).

It will therefore be a beautiful weekend in the north, and so is the center-south, after the rapid passage of snow showers along the Adriatic (up to about 600 m above sea level at the end of event) tomorrow evening, then Friday will be to isolate themselves from Puglia, Calabria and Sicilian (altitude snow down to 1000 m).

Sunday 12: some snow in the Alps border, elsewhere mostly sunny but still cold climate further.

Thursday 9: Al mattino mare da W-SW in rapido aumento, con vento anche attivo, soprattutto sul settore di levante. Dalle ore centrali cala il vento, per poi girare da terra rinforzando un pò ovunque, tranne sul Livornese, dove sarà side-shore e da N-W. Misura da 1.5 m al mattino presto fino a 2-2.5 m nelle ore centrali (2 m circa a ponente), che si manterrà costante nel pomeriggio, distendendosi e migliorando di qualità.

Venerdì 10: Al mattino piccole onde in scaduta sul settore di levante, per mare lungo da maestrale (0.5-0.8 m, forse un pò di più sul basso settore di levante). Venti deboli da terra e tempo buono. Tendenza a calo nelle ore centrali e passaggio a poco mosso nel pomeriggio.

Saturday 11: Mari generally calm or slightly wavy hair with the wind getting stronger by sw in the afternoon, without major consequences.

Sunday 12: Morning seas smooth, with moderate southwest wind getting stronger, little waves as possible in the afternoon by SW a bit 'all sectors, measuring up to 0.5-0.8 m.

Thursday 9: Swell SW in the morning, rotation and reinforcement from W-NW in the afternoon from the north. Twenty active coast, measuring about 1-1.3 m in the morning, also 1.5 m up in the afternoon on the central and northern Europe, and extending southwards to the evening.

Friday 10: On the central and northern possible small waves only in the morning, NW, fast-timed for the arrival of strong winds from the land. Friday 10: Mari recently moved almost everywhere, with very strong winds from the ground. Venti molto forti, con onde schiumose che si alzano in fretta e portano mare molto active in the evening and a good dose of cold air, accentuated by the chill of the wind chill.

Friday 10: the morning, the low-Romagna and Northern Marche, NE in order expired, about 0.5 m in rapid decline, with winds that rotate from nw. Larger waves, 0.8-1 m on the southern Marche (in expired), and greater down south, where there is still wind and sea assets, down only slightly in the afternoon (on the other hand, resists the storm Puglia on).
