Il Friuli Venezia Giulia possiede alcune caratteristiche specifiche e fondamentali da considerare for its facilities:

Per la viabilità stradale ed autostradale è ineludibile dare attuazione ai programmi regionali ed ex Anas e della società concessionaria già definiti nonché ad aumentare la sicurezza di tali infrastrutture, con un progetto relativo alla sicurezza stradale.
Per la viabilità ferroviaria prioritaria è la realizzazione del collegamento dell’Alta Velocità/Alta Capacità Venezia-Slovenia, con le connessioni con Udine e Pordenone.
Per il settore aereo è necessario favorire lo sviluppo dell’aeroporto di Ronchi dei Legionari con la creazione di un hub transfrontaliero con Venezia e Lubjana.
Per la portualità vanno individuate per il porto di Trieste tutte le azioni di rafforzamento della connessione tra i porti e le infrastrutture viabili e ferroviarie nonché le connessioni funzionali possibili con Monfalcone e Porto Nogaro.
Nell’ambito delle dotazioni infrastrutturali notevole importanza è oggi rivestita da quelle di telecomunicazione e la disponibilità di esse nel territorio regionale, costituisce sicuramente un elemento che favorisce l’insediabilità di nuove attività economiche ma anche un miglioramento alla qualità della vita per i residenti. E’ un settore in rapida evoluzione e con una forte obsolescenza delle infrastrutture che si vanno a realizzare. Per tale prospettiva va riconsiderato il mandato della società di emanazione regionale che opera nel settore.

Il porto di Trieste va orientato anche verso la navigazione diportistica privata accogliendo nei moli del centro cittadino yacht, velieri, imbarcazioni di pregio, costituendo una alternativa rispetto allo stazionamento e all'approdo nelle moderne marine.
